Today we met the big boss of DoDo to discuss for the food development competition and just like how those Channel 8 dramas portray big bosses, the way he talked had this air of superiority around it, and the confidence, and the name card. A quick scan through the front of the card reveals his authority in the company, turn the card behind and woah, a more shocking position held by him. He is the boss, after all. Although he and Mr Ng are close friends and I suspect they went to drink kopi and catch up with each other after our discussion, which proves that, although he holds a high post in the company, he doesn't have those 'I'm-better-than-you' airs. Or worse, a 'I-actually-have-my-own-R&D-team-why-should-I-leave-producing-a-new-product-to-you-students' mindset. Turns out, we won't be doing fishballs in the end, because they have already experimented with (and even produced some of) the flavours we suggested, although I don't remember seeing any fishballs containing water chestnuts in the market. But I think the current project is more interesting, albeit harder. Oh, and while we were still in Mr Ng's office, he was showing us some of his old photos with the other lecturers, and, trust me on this, Tay Siong Yeh did have her glory days before. Hahahaha. That's a good thing!
Concentrated sulphuric acid really is dangerous. Some minute drops splashed on my jeans on Monday during the experiment, and it left dark spots on where the drops were, which stayed there for a few hours, and by the end of the day, the spots turned into holes, completely dissolving the denim. Destructive. To think I used to dismiss the need for long pants and covered shoes during experiments :/
Third day of holidays. Nothing much done. Bad.
